Forensic Experts
In the area of liability, we have worked with some of the top engineers and forensic scientists in the country. They help us get to the bottom of what has happened and why on cases with tough liability issues.

Accident Reconstruction
For example, one of our clients was severely injured in a thirteen vehicle accident. It was necessary for a team of experts to be retained immediately to determine how this complex accident occurred; in what sequence the various collisions occurred and at what speeds the respective vehicles were traveling.

Engineers specializing in traffic design, trucks, metallurgy, human factors and accident reconstruction were assembled to piece together the evidence that was gathered by our team of investigators and the Honolulu Police Department. It was this timely effort on the part of our experts that led to an eight figure multi-million dollar settlement for our client.

Computer Simulation
As another example, a visitor from Australia was injured when he was standing on a street corner. Two cars collided at an intersection. One jumped the curb, striking our client and pinning him against a brick wall. He asked us to consider taking his case after his attorney was unable to prove the negligence of that second vehicle.

Our office hired a California engineering firm that purchased two vehicles of the exact make, model and year as the vehicles involved in the accident. The vehicles were crushed to determine the relevant speeds of the vehicles involved in the accident. The crash data was used to generate a computer simulation of the accident. Our client received a verdict in excess of a million dollars at trial.

Human Factors Experts
As a third example, an engineer was hired when a woman came to us who was involved in a trip and fall case in a mis-leveled elevator. This human factors expert presented testimony on the adequacy of signage and a person's ability to see and respond to the mis-leveled elevator floor which was 6 inches below the proper level. This testimony, along with an illumination study made the winning difference in this million dollar plus settlement.

Going the "Extra Mile"
In the past we have hired people to provide surveillance, we have closed off streets to reconstruct accidents, rented helicopters, tractor trailers, buses and vehicles to prove difficult liability cases. We utilize a scanning electron microscope to evaluate evidence in product liability cases. We have the resources to do what is necessary to illustrate and document what really happened during an accident.
